SHORTLISTED FOR SKETCH FOR SURVIVAL ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2024

SHORTLISTED FOR SKETCH FOR SURVIVAL ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2024

I'm so thrilled that my chimpanzee drawing "Embrace" has been selected as a finalist for Sketch for Survival 2024, run by Explorers Against Extinction.

And even more excited that they've shortlisted me for their coveted Artist of the Year award!! Out of 1082 entries, the shortlist contains just 14 artworks, of which my chimpanzee drawing "Embrace" is one of them.

Head Judge and renowned wildlife artist Gary Hodges commented:
"This stunning pastel drawing sure packs an emotional punch, with the eye of the infant looking deep into the viewer's soul. Creating the composition off centre only makes for an even more arresting yet tender artwork."

The winner will be announced on 14th November at the Royal Geographical Society "On The Edge" event. Huge thanks to Explorers Against Extinction and all the judges for shortlisting my drawing!

Sketch for Survival is an annual fundraising initiative run by conservation charity Explorers Against Extinction. It brings together wildlife artists from around the world who create art which highlights endangered animals and wild spaces.

Artworks from the finalists will be displayed in two exhibitions in Edinburgh and London through October and November 2024. Each artwork is auctioned off with 100% of the profits going to Explorers Against Extinction to support the fantastic work they do to restore key ecosystems and endangered species.

My chimpanzee drawing 'Embrace' will be exhibited at both of these exhibitions with 100% of the sale price going to Explorers Against Extinction:
