‘A Window to the Sea’

My clients often tell me how their seascape painting feels like a little window to the sea.
You don't have to live by the beach to enjoy its beauty. My original paintings are created to bring a bit of the Cornish coast into your home, wherever you are.

I paint from my own experience of this coastline. With each scene I create, I'm drawing on the memories of thousands of hours spent both in the ocean and walking the shoreline. As a keen surfer, and someone who loves to snorkel and swim in the sea, I can feel the push and pull of the waves I paint. I can relive the glistening light on the water's surface, and play back in slow motion how a wave breaks and the energy inside it. Every painting captures one of those moments, and no two are quite the same. 

If you love the sea, you'll know it holds more than just a view – it's memory, and feeling, and a kind of deep peace and reverence that's hard to find anywhere else. That's what I'm trying to get onto the canvas.

CAPTURING THE ATMOSPHERE OF THE SEA

I want each seascape to do more than sit nicely on a wall. I want it to bring a little of that feeling home – the way you lose yourself as you watch the waves roll in, the way your shoulders relax and your muscles ease when you're near water. Or that thrill you feel surging through your very being as you watch mother nature unleash a storm on the ocean. That's what I'm aiming for, whether it's a painting of a sunny day by the sea or a dramatic stormy wave mid-break.
